Coaching Expertise and Current Role

Sunil Sharma is currently appointed as the Head Coach at the Dahiya Cricket Center of Excellence in Hari Nagar, Delhi. In this role, he has been instrumental in shaping the careers of many young cricketers by instilling in them the fundamentals of the game, coupled with advanced techniques and strategies. His coaching philosophy revolves around creating a strong foundation for players, emphasizing discipline, dedication, and continuous improvement.

Playing Career Highlights

Sunil's cricketing journey began during his school days, where he showcased his talent and leadership skills early on. He represented Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in school cricket and was the captain of the school team in 1988-89. His leadership and cricketing abilities led him to represent Delhi State in several prestigious tournaments.

In 1985, Sunil represented Delhi in the Under-15 Vijay Merchant Tournament, marking the beginning of his state-level career. His performances caught the attention of selectors, and he was subsequently selected to attend cricket coaching camps organized by the Sports Authority of India. These camps, conducted by former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi, took place at the National Stadium in New Delhi and at Chail, Himachal Pradesh, in 1985 and 1986. These experiences played a crucial role in refining Sunil's skills and understanding of the game.

Sunil continued to rise through the ranks, representing Delhi State in the Under-17 Vijay Hazare Tournament in 1987. The following year, he was selected for the North Zone BCCI Under-17 camp, further solidifying his reputation as a promising young cricketer. His dedication and talent earned him an invitation to participate in a Pace Workshop conducted by the legendary fast bowler Dennis Lillee at the MRF Pace Foundation in 1988.

By 1989-90, Sunil was a key player for Delhi State in the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy Tournament. He then continued his cricketing journey at Khalsa College, Delhi University, where he played in inter-college cricket tournaments from 1990 to 1993. His performances at the university level led to his selection for the Delhi University team in the inter-university cricket tournament in 1991-92. He was also chosen to represent Delhi in the All India Rohinton Baria University Cricket Tournament held at Gulbarga, Karnataka, in 1992.

In 1995, Sunil was invited to attend the Ranji Trophy camp, a testament to his exceptional skills and dedication to the sport. He also played in the A Division of the DDCA League, representing the pinnacle of cricketing competition in Delhi.

Corporate Cricket and Leadership

In addition to his achievements in competitive cricket, Sunil represented and captained the Air Sahara Cricket Team, participating in various tournaments across Delhi and other cities. He was also a regular member of the Reebok India Cricket Team, where he played in numerous corporate tournaments, showcasing his versatility and leadership on and off the field.
